Refer a Child for a Big Brother,
Big Sister or Big Couple
A Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Couple gives a child an additional friend in his/her life. Bigs
are carefully screened volunteers from the community who spend time each week with their
Littles. Community based matches do things together throughout the community, like
visiting the library or museum, skating at the park, going out to eat, or simply hanging out.
Site based matches meet at a designated location like an elementary school or after
school program and play games, read books, draw pictures, or do other activities available
at the site.

Bigs and Littles share time, experiences, friendship and fun- little moments that create big
magic for Bigs and Littles alike!

About Bigs

Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Big Couples vary in age, interests and professions, but all
want to do something to help children.  Bigs volunteer to share their time and friendship
with a young person. They make at least a one-year commitment to meet regularly with
their Littles. Like many friendships these relationships can last much longer, some even for
a lifetime.
Thoughts from Families

“My Big Sister takes me places I never get to go and didn’t even know about. What I really
like about having a Big Sister is just having a person to hang out with and knowing she is
there to be with me one-on-one. It is really cool that I have her.”
    - Emily, 10 year-old Little, matched to a Big Sister for four years

“My boys were matched perfectly and it really fills my heart to see them so happy and
excited.  Big Brothers Big Sisters gives them the opportunity to have another person to
look up to, get support from, and spend fun times with.”
    - Cheryl, mother of two Littles matched in the program
